The Holy Family Community
Health Program supports the health of
all its children and their families.
Our Community Health Program is truly ending the cycle of poverty by offering services and educational classes to help our parents/guardians secure affordable healthcare and culturally sensitive health related services. When families are healthy, they can focus more attention on their child's educational development and on achieving financial stability through gainful employment. Our on-site Community Health Advocate works to identify and respond to the health needs of our families. Our services include:
| |
making referrals to local healthcare agencies and resources, |
| |
assisting families in their search for affordable health insurance, |
| |
educating our families by inviting guest speakers and leading discussions and workshops on relevant health topics, and |
| |
Partnering with other community agencies that promote healthy living, such as Weight Watchers, San Francisco Food Bank and San Francisco Ballet Company |
Children's Giving Garden
Many thanks for the generous grant from Kaiser Permanente Community Benefit Program, which was used to plant a 1,000 sq. ft. children's garden on our playground. Our Children's Giving Garden is an educational tool for children to see the results of their labor as flowers bloom and seeds sprout. The education focuses on the sustainability of eating the fruits and vegetable after harvested and also the healthy benefits of those nutritious ingredients.
Family's Farmer's Market
In Partnership with Kaiser Permanente Community Benefit Program, the San Francisco Food Bank delivers weekly groceries for our Family's Farmer's Market. On average, one hundred families visit and benefit from the abundance of staple items offered each week. Our Community Health Advocate provides recipes to encourage families to make healthy meals at home and encourage their children to take part in the cooking as well.
