A comprehensive, wraparound approach to quality education from the day each child arrives until the day she or he leaves is the responsibility of our entire staff.

We are proud of our multi-ethnic team — out of 40 staff members on average about 75% identify themselves as belonging to an ethnic or racial minority and on average 85% are women. Our staff is fluent in non-English languages spoken by our children or their families, including: Spanish, Tagalog, German, Russian, French, Korean and Chinese dialects.

The teaching teams plan the daily curriculum activities, develop the rich, stimulating learning centers that provide the basis for children's activities and work to meet the developmental needs of each individual child.

California Early Childhood Mentor Program

Since August of 2000, the Day Home has participated in the California Early Childhood Mentor Program, allowing one of our experienced teachers to serve as a Mentor.

The California Early Childhood Program improves the quality of child care by providing incentives to reduce teacher turnover in early childhood education. The Program creates a career track for experienced teachers as well as establishes training opportunities for students enrolled in early childhood education (ECE) classes at local Community Colleges.

After assessing the quality of our programs and staff, the California Early Childhood Mentor program recognized the Day Home as a “high quality program for young children where a qualified Mentor may provide supervision and training to student teachers in her classroom.” Specifically, long-time Teacher Valentina Feldman was identified by the program as the Day Home’s Mentor.

The Day Home's participation in the program promotes our facility as a model in the learning/teaching community and increases the tenure and skills of other teachers by providing hand-on training for them at our worksite. A side benefit, of course, is that our children experience the enthusiasm of newly trained teachers, eager for experience with a seasoned Mentor.

The Day Home is very proud of Valentina and her role in training another generation of caring, concerned and competent teachers for our young children.
